Here was our response to the BBB:

The customer did indeed attempt to return a network card without receipt, and per in store displayed and on our website provided store policy, as is with many major box stores, the original receipt is required for all returns. The customers perception of rudeness is his own and in our opinion exaggerated.

He did return the second day with the receipt, and is per our right to inspect that the item is the original item and is in obvious good condition, we found that he did not place the original network card into the original static protected packaging that it came in, but that he had placed it in an ordinary plastic, static generating bag with a piece of scotch tape on it. Scotch tape generates 10,000 volts of static electricity when it is pulled from the roll, therefore there is a high probability of damage to the device. Store policy indicates that the items must be in the original packaging and in undamaged condition. It is apparent that the customer has inadequate knowledge to have attempted to install this device himself, and that increases the likelihood of the item being damaged.

The customer, was rude to us the first day from our perspective, and continued his obnoxious behavior the second day. We did indeed ask him to leave as his demeaning attitude continued and the atmosphere deteriorated. Instead of letting an escalation occur, we informed him upon his refusal to leave that he was trespassing and the police would be called. This is standard practice with those few people that wish to impose their presence in a negative or threatening manner. This customer is no longer allowed at our Store or he will be arrested for trespassing.
